    Sakaja Ranked Among Worst Performing Governors(List)

    Sakaja Ranked Among Worst Performing Governors(List)

    Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has been ranked among the worst-performing governors with an approval rating of 33.2 percent, according to a report released by Insight Strategists Solutions (ISS) Africa.

    The report ranked the governors according to two parameters namely; development rating and approval rating.

    Sakaja, who is a first-term governor, received a development rating of 33.7 percent and an approval rating of 33.2 percent. In both parameters, he maintained the 38th position overall.

    Development Rating

    The three governors who received the highest ranking in terms of development included Cecily Mbarire (Embu), Irungu Kang’ata (Murang’a), and Abdi Hassan Guyo (Isiolo) who scored 65.4 percent, 62.8 percent, and 60.2 percent respectively.

    Gladys Wanga (Homa Bay) and Susan Kihika (Nakuru) followed with 60 percent and 59.8 percent respectively.

    On the other hand, the bottom five governors who received the lowest ranking in this parameter included Jonathan Bii (Uasin Gishu), Issa Abdallah Timamy (Lamu), Hillary Barchok (Bomet), James Orengo (Siaya) and Kimani Wamatangi (Kiambu) who scored 16.4, 18.4, 19.2, 20.2 and 22.4 percent respectively.

    The other five include; Taita Taveta’s Andrew Mwadime (24.2 percent), Marsabit’s Mohamud Ali (30.2 percent), Wajir’s Ahmed Abullahi (32.4 percent), Machakos’ Wavinya Ndeti (32.8 percent) and Sakaja. 

    Approval Rating

    Mutula Kilonzo (Makueni), Gladys Wanga (Homa Bay), Cecily Mbarire (Embu), Patrick Ole Ntutu (Narok), and Irungu Kang’ata (Murang’a) emerged as the top five governors with an approval rating of 73.8, 70.5, 70.2, 70, and 69.8 percent respectively.

    The bottom five governors included Bii (20.7 percent), Barchok (22.3 percent), Wamatangi (23.4 percent), Taita Taveta’s Andrew Mwadime (28.4 percent), and Siaya’s James Orengo (30.1 percent).

    Second-term governors who received the highest score in terms of development included Julius Malombe, Anne Waiguru, Anyang’ Nyong’o, Muthomi Njuki, and Joshua Irungu.

    Nonetheless, Malombe and Waiguru maintained the top two positions in terms of approval rating with 68.4 and 60.2 percent respectively. 

    Lusaka, Benjamin Cheboi, and Nyong’o rounded the top five list with 58.2, 53.7, and 51.2 percent.

    In the case of first-term governors, Mbarire (65.4 percent), Kang’ata (62.8 percent), and Guyo (60.2 percent) received the highest ranking for development within their regions.

    Kilonzo, Wanga, and Mbarire, however, received the highest score in terms of popularity among Kenyans with 73.8 percent, 70.5 percent, and 70.2 percent respectively.
