Sabina Chege Firm: Jubilee Rejects Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza Coalition
Sabina Chege, a nominated member of parliament. Has insisted that the Jubilee Party will not join the Kenya Kwanza Coalition of President William Ruto.
The lawmaker vying to succeed former President Uhuru Kenyatta as chairman of the Jubilee Party. Affirmed in a television interview at the start of the weekend. That she intended to separate the party from the Azimio coalition.
She noted that the Jubilee Party disagreed with a number of the policies introduced by the coalition led by Raila Odinga.
Chege insisted that she intended to independently develop the party to prosperity.
“Since the elections, we have not resolved whether or not we reside in Azimio. Our preference is to not participate in the Azimio Coalition, and we will not join Kenya Kwanza. We want Jubilee to be a separate political party,” she explained.
The outspoken lawmaker also claimed that she declined an offer from Kenya Kwanza to serve as the deputy governor of Nairobi County.
She declined the offer of 40 percent cabinet positions in exchange for her fidelity to the former ruling party.

“The party assisted Uhuru more than he assisted us. After the elections, we were left without a party and with no direction. If I had accepted the offer from the Kenya Kwanza Government to become the Nairobi deputy governor, I would be co-governing the county. This would be consistent with my vision and goals.
“I declined (the offer) to stay at the Jubilee party so that my loyalty would not be questioned. Not us, but his (Uhuru’s) leadership approach betrayed him,” she added.
Chege and Kanini Kega are in a struggle with the Jubilee party to assume the positions of chairperson and secretary general, respectively.
Mid-July, the High Court issued restraining orders prohibiting the duo from assuming control of the Jubilee Party.
The court halted the expulsion of Jeremiah Kioni as Secretary General, David Murathe as Vice Chair, and Kagwe Gichohi as Treasurer based on a ruling by Justice Asenath Ongeri.
“The 12/7/2023 application is certified as essential. This is to be served on the respondents for an interparty hearing before the Honorable Justice Visram on July 26, 2023. In the interim, conservatorship orders are granted by petitions 1, 2, 3, and 4 of the application dated 12/7/2023, as stated in part of the ruling.
