On Sunday, Energy and Petroleum Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir was greeted with an unwelcoming reception in Bomet County. Amidst an event attended by President William Ruto, the secretary was heckled by a disapproving crowd.
The occurrence transpired in Sotik during a religious service, wherein the congregation’s unwavering disobedience effectively halted Chirchir’s discourse.
Despite Chirchir’s earnest efforts to communicate, the audible chants of the audience rendered his words unintelligible.
As the presenter, Bomet Governor Hillary Barchok was compelled to intervene to restore order and save the Cabinet Secretary from the turbulent reception.
“Thank you so much, Your Excellency, thank you for coming to pray with us today here in Sotik, it’s like home for me. As far as the electricity situation goes, we are going to fix it,” the CS stated in his short speech.
However, he was yelled at to take a seat by the audience.
