Ruto’s Biggest Failure Despite Being Better Than Kibaki- Danstan Omari

On Monday, city attorney Danstan Omari cautioned that unless President William Ruto addresses and closes all avenues utilized for embezzling public funds, his legacy will be tarnished by rampant corruption.

In a media interview, Omari stated that Ruto surpassed the late President Mwai Kibaki in terms of leadership, revitalizing, and expanding the nation’s economy. Nonetheless, he purportedly found himself surrounded by politicians driven by self-serving motives.

“If indeed the president wants to compare himself to the late Kibaki, I’ll tell everybody for free the president is far much better than Kibaki,” he stated but did not cite any data or statistics to back his claim.

However, he cautioned that individuals working for the government were misappropriating funds obtained from the raised taxes.

Omari urged Ruto to remove all wrongdoers to ensure that Kenyans receive the benefits of the raised taxes in the nation. He also highlighted that if Ruto established improved systems, he could surpass those who came before him.

“No coin is not being stolen under the watch of President William Ruto. This is the contradiction. We are being overtaxed but this money is going into a hole,” Omari complained.

He additionally urged the prompt apprehension of the individuals stealing within the government, stating that they surpassed the number of officials gathering taxes. He emphasized that the substantial funds obtained by the president from international investors in the form of loans and aid must be safeguarded to prevent potential mismanagement.

Omari warned against the wrongdoing and advised investigative bodies like the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to avoid reactive approaches. He encouraged them to proactively address the issue at its source instead.

“The amount of money being pumped in from the diaspora is massive. The only problem is that money is not being put into the consolidated fund. It is going into people’s pockets,” he stated.

He mentioned several multi-billion scandals that have severely impacted the country, causing a further decline in its economy.

Previously, Ruto promised to protect the funds gathered from Kenyan citizens by ensuring that individuals involved in embezzling public funds would be held responsible. In November, Ruto took action by suspending numerous government officials and police accused of engaging in corrupt practices, carried out through his Chief of Staff, Felix Koskei.

His financial consultant, David Ndii, subsequently mentioned that the president was encountering strong resistance from legislators whom he had prevented from unlawfully accessing contracts.
