Ruto Strikes Key Deals With Angolan President João Lourenço
President William Ruto signed eleven important agreements with his Angolan counterpart, Joo Lourenco, during his official visit to Kenya, which began on Saturday, October 21.
Ruto explained at State House in Nairobi that his administration had, among other things, reached agreements on wildlife conservation, mining business, youth development, forest conservation, agriculture, ICT, and oil and gas cooperation.
Other agreements addressed the health and education of government administrators in their respective institutions of government.
The agreements were signed at State House after Ruto hosted Lourenco for bilateral discussions, a day after Lourenco skipped the Mashujaa Day festivities.
Due to unforeseeable circumstances, Lourenco was unable to attend the 60th anniversary festivities.

During the discussions, Kenya also reached an agreement to recommence direct flights between the two nations. At the beginning of the global pandemic, flights were halted.
In contrast, Ruto announced that Kenya had waived its visa requirements for Angolan nationals. The Southern African nation had not yet signed the same agreement.
Lourenco, for his part, indicated that the issue would be discussed upon his return to Angola and that a decision would be made in the coming days.
“In this matter of Visa, reciprocity has to prevail. We will carefully consider the possibility of reciprocating the same to ordinary passports.
“The signing can take place here or in the city of Luanda,” the visiting President stated.
Lourenco also invited Ruto to Luanda for a State Visit.
In return, Ruto endorsed his candidacy for the presidency of the African Union in 2026.
