Ruto Reveals Why He Picked Mbadi, Joho, and Azimio Allies for Cabinet
On Thursday, President William Ruto urged Kenyans to support the new, inclusive government he unveiled the previous day.
Addressing the people of Tharaka Nithi, the President explained that the latest appointments aim to resolve the political divisions that have plagued the nation.
The President asserted that this newly structured government would foster unity among Kenyans and end the previous biased leadership.
He noted that the new appointees would be instrumental in carrying out various government functions, including ensuring effective tax collection and managing the country’s debt repayment.
“Yesterday, I established a government designed to unite all Kenyans, as I believe there should be no room for bias,” President Ruto stated.
“Let us unite to build a single government that serves the people of Kenya and fosters national development.”

The President also urged an immediate cessation of anti-government protests, describing them as detrimental and obstructive to the countryโs progress.
Ruto claimed that criminal elements had infiltrated the peaceful protests, turning them violent by causing property damage and engaging in theft.
“I urge you, Kenyans, to avoid destroying our country. There is no need for demonstrations or violence. Let us protect Kenya and work towards its development,” Ruto appealed to Tharaka Nithi residents.
These remarks follow the President’s announcement of the second set of cabinet secretary nominees, which included four high-ranking members of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party.
At a press conference at State House in Nairobi, Ruto nominated ODM’s John Mbadi for Treasury, Opiyo Wandayi for Energy and Petroleum, Ali Hassan Joho for Mining, and Wycliffe Oparanya for the Ministry of Co-operatives.
Ruto’s choice to include opposition leaders in his administration comes two weeks after he pledged to form a broad-based, inclusive government.
