Ruto Appoints Former MP Vincent Mogaka as Kenya’s Ambassador to Ghana Despite Initial Rejection
On Friday, President William Ruto appointed former West Mugirango MP Vincent Mogaka Kemosi as Kenya’s ambassador to Accra, Ghana, despite his earlier rejection of the role.
Kemosi was one of the candidates nominated by President Ruto to represent Kenya abroad, but he chose not to accept the nomination.
Parliament reviewed the nominees and submitted their names to the president for final approval.
However, Mogaka informed Parliament that he would not attend the vetting process because he had turned down the nomination.
Despite this, President Ruto officially appointed Kemosi to the position, as announced in a Gazette Notice in local newspapers.
In the notice, President Ruto, under the authority granted by the Constitution, appointed individuals to various diplomatic roles, including High Commissioners, Ambassadors, and Consuls-General.

The notice also included the appointment of 26 ambassadors and High Commissioners, such as Ezra Chiloba, the former Director-General of the Communications Authority, as Kenya’s Consular General in Los Angeles, California.
During his vetting, Chiloba faced questions about his controversial departures from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and the Communications Authority.
Chiloba provided a letter from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) confirming his innocence and suitability for the foreign service.
Chiloba also disclosed a net worth of Ksh800 million, attributing his wealth to earnings from previous employment.
Concerns were raised by MPs regarding Charles Githinji, the nominee for ambassador to Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo, due to his limited knowledge of diplomatic matters.
As a result, lawmakers rejected his nomination, and he was removed from the list of appointees.
