Rigathi Gachagua Jets Back to Kenya After Cutting Short U.S. Political Tour
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is back in Kenya after ending his planned four-week political tour in the United States earlier than expected.
Gachagua touched down at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Thursday afternoon following a 15-hour flight. He was welcomed by a huge crowd of political allies, party leaders, and supporters who turned the airport into a charged atmosphere.
Among the key figures at the airport were Cleophas Malala, the Deputy Leader of DCP, and Naivasha MP Jayne Kihara, together with other senior party officials.

As soon as Gachagua stepped out, hundreds of enthusiastic supporters broke into chants, waved banners, and sang solidarity songs in his honour. The situation grew so intense that security officers were forced to step in to control the crowd.
The heavy turnout also caused traffic snarl-ups, with police blocking sections of the Mombasa Road and the Nairobi Expressway to manage the swelling crowd heading to JKIA.

Although Gachagua did not immediately speak to the press or his supporters, sources revealed that he might address the public later at Kamukunji grounds.

Earlier, Cleophas Malala had confirmed that the party had officially informed police about their plans to welcome Gachagua. He said the Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, and other senior officers in Nairobi were fully aware of the arrival and the planned procession.
Malala explained that once Gachagua landed, a peaceful procession would move from JKIA through the Nairobi CBD and end at Kamukunji.
โWe have already notified the police, and we will receive our leader with dignity. The procession will remain peaceful from JKIA through town to Kamukunji,โ Malala told Citizen TV.

He further added that they did not require permission from Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen to gather, insisting that supporters had travelled from across the country, including Kisumu and Mombasa, ready to welcome Gachagua even if his plane had been diverted.
