Raila Odinga Drops Martha Karua from Social Media Profile Photos
Azimio One Kenya Coalition Party leader Raila Odinga has recently updated his social media presence by removing Narc Kenya Party leader Martha Karua from his profile photos across all platforms.
This change comes after Narc Kenya announced its departure from the Azimio coalition, citing the increasingly unstable political environment.
For a long time, Karua had been prominently featured alongside Raila in his profile photos, symbolizing their close political partnership.
Karua Criticizes Raila for Alliance with Ruto
Martha Karua, who was Raila Odinga’s running mate in the 2022 presidential election, has voiced strong opposition to Odinga’s recent political decisions, particularly his alliance with President William Ruto.
Karua condemned Odinga’s partnership with Ruto, labeling it an unconstitutional “come-we-stay marriage” that undermines transparency and accountability.
In her remarks, Karua accused Odinga of betraying the Kenyan public by allowing members of his ODM party to join Ruto’s Cabinet without adhering to constitutional processes. She argued that ODM should have relinquished its opposition role rather than participating in what she described as backdoor politics.
“This broad-based government is illegal and unconstitutional. It sets a dangerous precedent by circumventing the Constitution’s safeguards and accountability measures,” Karua stated.
Karua’s criticisms arise amid contradictory statements from Odinga regarding ODM’s participation in the government.
Initially denying ODM’s involvement, Odinga later admitted that President Ruto had approached ODM members for ministerial positions.
“This admission by my former boss is revealing. It shows a calculated effort by ODM to exert influence over government decisions through unofficial means,” Karua added.
