Raila: Israel-Palestine war should be condemned by all humanity
Azimio leader Raila Odinga has called out leaders who have taken sides in the war between Israel and Palestine.
Speaking on Sunday, Raila said the war should be condemned by all humanity.
He said heads of state and government taking sides and condemning the other will not help the situation in Gaza.
The former Prime Minister said the only way peace can be assured is if Palestine is recognized as an independent state.
“There can only be lasting peace along the Gaza Strip if Palestine is accorded permanent residence and recognition of their rights to exist as a free and independent people. That is what is not being said, people are taking sides,” Raila said.
“Standing with one side and condemning the other when bombs are being dropped. Schools, hospitals, and patients are being bombed. These are issues that need to be condemned by all civilized humanity. That is when we can have peace.”

Raila spoke during an interdenominational prayer service in Kajiado, where they also prayed for peace to prevail in the war between Israel and Palestine.
His remarks come a few days after President William Ruto took a firm decision to stand with Israel.
Ruto condemned the attacks on Israel, noting that Kenya doesn’t support terrorism in any form.
“Kenya joins the rest of the world in solidarity with the State of Israel and unequivocally condemns terrorism and attacks on innocent civilians in the country,” he said.
It is now two weeks since Hamas launched its assault on Israel, killing more than 1,400 people.
Palestinian officials in Gaza say more than 4,600 have been killed since then after Israel launched retaliatory attacks.
Israel has also cut out any aid from getting into Gaza.
