Raila Ally Breaks Silence After Ruto-Uhuru Meeting

Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi has extended a warm welcome to former President Uhuru Kenyatta into the Kenya Kwanza government.

Commenting on the recent interaction between Uhuru Kenyatta and President William Ruto, Wandayi expressed that, as a Kenyan, Uhuru is free to join the Ruto-led administration.

The CS emphasized that the priority for Kenya at the moment is promoting unity, and the Kenya Kwanza Government is open to anyone seeking to contribute to that cause from all sectors of society.

“We fully support all initiatives aimed at uniting Kenyans and back President Ruto’s efforts in this direction. Former President Uhuru Kenyatta, being a Kenyan, has no problem collaborating with President William Ruto,” the CS stated.

CS Wandayi is a key beneficiary of the inclusive government formed between President William Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, praising the unity efforts, which he believes is a key reason why the opposition is now part of the government.

“There is a time for everything. We were once in the opposition, but now we are all part of the government, working together within the inclusive administration,” the CS added.

Wandayi’s comments come just days after President William Ruto met his predecessor at his Gatundu residence. This marks the second time the two leaders have met since their initial encounter in Embu during the consecration and installation of Bishop Peter Kimani Ndung’u.

Although the specifics of their meeting remain unclear, President Ruto stated that he took the opportunity to thank the former president for facilitating a smooth transition of power after the 2022 elections.

For his part, Uhuru dismissed rumors that the meeting was an indication of him joining the government.

In an official statement, Uhuru explained that it is common for sitting and former presidents to consult each other on matters of national interest, ultimately benefiting the people.

The meeting between the two leaders has continued to generate speculation, with some analysts suggesting that there could be more behind the scenes.

During the Jamuhuri Day celebrations on Thursday, President Ruto reaffirmed his commitment to uniting Kenyans.
