President Ruto’s Cabinet Approves Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation’s Entry into Kenya

On Tuesday, June 27, President William Ruto’s Cabinet approved the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Run by billionaires Bill Gates and Melinda French, to establish operations in Kenya.

According to Cabinet meeting resolutions obtained by GossipA2Z. The Head of State authorized the billionaires to establish regional offices for the foundation in Kenya.

The Cabinet noted that allowing Kenya to host the foundation will assist the president’s administration in delivering quality healthcare.

Ruto also stated that the establishment of a hosting center for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Will attract investors and foster more partnerships.

“The Cabinet also approved the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation’s presence in Kenya, furthering the government’s commitment to affordable and high-quality healthcare.

“The decision to host the Gates Foundation was influenced by the significance of working with the private sector in the area of Universal Healthcare,” read a portion of the meeting’s report.

Bill and Melinda Gates founded the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in 2000. To help communities around the world gain access to quality, affordable healthcare.

In addition to enhancing healthcare, the foundation is anticipated to stimulate innovation, strengthen global corporations, and generate market incentives.

By establishing an administrative office in Kenya. It is anticipated that President Ruto’s administration will gain access to data. That will aid the Kenya Kwanza administration in addressing various challenges.

The establishment of the regional office in Nairobi followed the 16 November 2022 meeting between Ruto and Bill Gates in Nairobi.

During the meeting, Ruto announced that the regional office will expand and improve the Foundation’s work in Kenya in the areas of healthcare, agriculture, and ICT.

“We appreciate the Gates Foundation’s support for critical initiatives in Kenya’s Health, Agriculture, and Information and Communications Technology sectors. Ruto stated, “We look forward to further collaboration on food security and universal health coverage.”

The Head of State added that Kenya was committed to allocating additional resources to community health workers to improve primary healthcare.

Bill Gates, on the other hand, praised the President while urging him to revitalize the Hustler Fund, which he argued was essential to financial empowerment.
