President Ruto Unveils Secret Raila Meeting Insights

President William Ruto has acknowledged meeting with opposition leader Raila Odinga and stated that he has outlined the terms that will govern their negotiations.

During interdenominational thanksgiving prayers at the Ukunda Showgrounds in Kwale County, Ruto stated that he advised Rails that Kenya is a democratic nation and that no leader should orchestrate violence that results in loss of life and destruction of property.

“There will no longer be leaders in the present, the past, or the future who plan violence that will result in deaths, destruction of property, or the destruction of businesses,” he said.

The President stated that while he is willing to discuss any other topic, he cannot negotiate the protection of Kenyans.

“We have agreed because, as head of state, I am obligated to ensure that the property of every Kenyan, whether they support my policies or not, is protected, that there is peace in the country, and that there will be no violence in Kenya in the future,” he added.

The President also responded angrily to critics who questioned the absence of the expense of living as a topic to be discussed during the negotiations, claiming that the topic is addressed in the Kenya Kwanza manifesto.

“Other leaders have asked where the cost of living is on the list of issues to be discussed; I want to inform them that the issue is in the Kenya Kwanza manifesto, and we have a plan that we are implementing. “The cost of living cannot be addressed using the proposed demonstrations and violence,” he stated.

The President stated that the government is implementing various development projects in the blue economy and housing sectors to generate jobs for the youth to discourage their participation in demonstrations.

On the other hand, some of the President’s allies urged him not to negotiate with opposition leaders who do not prioritize the interests of ordinary mwananchi.

According to Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, the opposition wants to internationalize their electoral defeat and manufacture a crisis where none exists.

“If our adversaries want to talk, let’s discuss, but don’t tell Kenyans we’re in a crisis. Let’s speak as Kenyans, and don’t internationalize your losses,’ he said.

Salim Mvurya, Cabinet Secretary for Mining and Blue Economy, along with House Speakers Moses Wetangula and Amason Kingi, maintained a firm stance, imploring the President not to meet with Raila and instead to concentrate on implementing his agenda.

Mvurya stated, “I don’t want you to be coerced, because you were the clear winner…sasa kama itakua kila baada ya uchaguzi kuna mazungumzo basi kuna haja gani ya kushinda uchaguzi.”

Members of Parliament, led by Mwangi Kiujuri of Laikipia East, Gonzi Rai of Kinango, Chiforomodo Mangale of Lungalunga, and Ludia Haika of Tita Taveta, urged the President not to enter into negotiations that are not in the best interests of Kenyans.
