President Ruto Shakes Up Government: Former Rivals Peter Kenneth and Mwangi wa Iria Land Powerful Jobs.
President William Ruto has introduced significant government changes, appointing Peter Kenneth, a former presidential candidate, and Mwangi wa Iria, the ex-Murang’a Governor, to key roles.
Kenneth, who once served as Gatanga MP, has been named chairperson of the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) National Standards Council.
Meanwhile, Mwangi wa Iria has been appointed as the head of the Public Procurement Regulatory Board.
Noor Yaror Gabow has also been designated as Consular General for the yet-to-be-launched Haitian Consulate, as announced in a notice signed by Arthur Osiya, Principal Administrative Secretary to the Head of Public Service.
In another key appointment, Ruto selected Gerald Nyaoma Arita as the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Kenya.
Additionally, the president expanded his advisory team, naming Professor Adams G.R. Oloo as a strategy and communication advisor and Dr. Silvester Okumu Kasuku as a governance advisor.
Other notable appointees include Major (Rtd) Ali Mahat Somane as an advisor on security affairs and Joe Owaka Ager as Secretary of Governance.

According to the notice, these appointments aim to strengthen the Executive Office of the President, ensuring efficient support for the Head of State’s mandate.
Ruto also named Bruno Oguda Obodha as Managing Director of East African Portland Cement Company PLC and Douglas Murei Kaibos as CEO of Central Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency.
These roles were filled following recommendations from the Public Service Commission and in compliance with applicable laws.
Earlier on Friday, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi disclosed plans to establish a consulate in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, next year.
This decision marks an advancement in diplomatic relations between Kenya and Haiti, normalized 15 months ago.
Gabowโs appointment as the first Consular General aligns with his prior role as Deputy Inspector General of the Administration Police Service, where he supervised Kenyaโs initial police deployment to Haiti in June.
