    President Ruto Endorses Dialogue Committee Recommendations

    President Ruto Endorses Dialogue Committee Recommendations

    President William Ruto stated that he has accepted the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) recommendations, which were presented by the opposition Azimio la Umoja coalition and the governing Kenya Kwanza coalition.

    โ€œYouโ€™ve heard that those in charge of the Dialogue are done with that work, and we applaud them for finishing that task, now let us join hands and take Kenya forward,โ€ Ruto stated.

    President Ruto, speaking to congregation members at the Priesthood Fellowship in Kahawa West, Roysambu Constituency on Sunday, urged leaders to live within their means for the advancement of Kenya and advocated for a 50% reduction in government expenditure, as opposed to just a 30% reduction.

    โ€œThey have given recommendations all those recommendations are okay. Where they said we lessen Government spending by 50%, I have done that already. For those calling for lessening to be done by 30%, I suggest that they increase it to 50% for Kenya to move forward. We must learn to live within our means,โ€ he added.

    The Secretary-General additionally exhorted Parliamentarians to expeditiously engage in deliberations regarding the committee’s recommendations, underscoring the shared obligation to propel Kenya’s progress.

    โ€œAll the other things that they have suggested, it is now up to you MPs to debate on the issue and get done with it to continue working together without hate and division,โ€ said Ruto.

    President Ruto commended the committee’s four-month endeavor and emphasized the pragmatic nature of their suggestions.

    On Saturday, November 25, the committee issued a joint statement emphasizing the necessity of a 50% reduction in travel budgets for all branches of government. Additionally, the committee suggested a 30% decrease in daily subsistence allowances for state and public officers.

    The committee asserts that the action is intended to tackle the urgent matter of the unprecedentedly high cost of living.

    The committee’s consideration of the proposal to establish offices for the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Official Opposition was an additional noteworthy element.

    Awaiting ratification by the National Assembly, these proposed positions could result in the installation of opposition leader Raila Odinga and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi in their respective offices.ย
