Power blackout to hit areas in 10 counties Wednesday – KPLC
Kenya Power has said certain areas across ten counties will go without power for the better part of Wednesday to allow for routine maintenance.
The scheduled power interruption will be effected as early as 8 a.m. in some areas until as late as 5 p.m.
“We are confronted with challenges related to illegal connections and encroachment on the wayleave. Illegal connections pose a danger since they are not conducted correctly,” MD and chief executive Joseph Siror said in a statement.
“We are actively identifying the areas where these challenges exist and taking steps to address them,” he added.
Areas to be affected are the counties of Kiambu, Machakos, Narok, Kirinyaga, West Pokot, Isiolo, Nyeri, Homa Bay, Kisii, and Uasin Gishu.
In Kiambu, power will go off from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Kiratina, Turitu, Ngegu, Kasphat, part of Kawaida, and adjacent customers.
In Machakos, areas around Kyumbi Road and Nguluni Kisukioni Katulye will be affected.

They include Chai Moto, Kithini, Kenya Israel, Canaani, Leaders Academy, Mua Hills, Maanzoni, Makutano Kyumbi, Katelembo, and adjacent customers.
Uasin Gishu’s Garage Centre and Kabatu will be without power from 10 am to 4 pm while Kobodo and Nyamogo areas in Homa Bay will be affected from 9 am to 3 pm.
Areas to be affected in Kisii over the same timeline are Kiamokama and Keumbu in Maji Mazuri, Kiamokama Factory, Gesusu, Nyanturago, Kabosi, Borangi, and neighboring areas.
Customers around Kiamariga and Ngorano in Nyeri County should also brace for hours of power outage from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. while those in Isiolo around Asili Millers, Mungania, Lewa, and Ntumburi will be affected between 9 a.m. to 5 pm.
In Kirinyaga, areas to be affected include Karaba, Wango, Kilia, Gategi, Marurumo, Ndindiruku, Kiumbu Gikuru, and Bonzuki.
The interruption will be from 8.30 am to 1.30 pm.
Customers around Ortum, Sina, and Sigor in West Pokot will experience the outage from 10 am to 3 pm while those in Narok County around Mpata Club, Dikirr, and Murkan will be shut out from 8 am to 4 pm.
