Politician Found Dead Inside His House
Authorities in Kericho County are investigating the death of former Kipchimchim Ward MCA, Benard Mutai.
Mutai was discovered deceased inside his home on Thursday evening in Taiwet Sub-location, Ainamoi Sub-County.
Taiwet Sub-location Assistant Chief Philemon Kosei confirmed the discovery, noting that Mutai’s body was found in his bedroom.
Preliminary reports suggest the possibility of suicide, but police have begun a thorough investigation to determine the exact cause.
Mutai served as Kipchimchim MCA for two consecutive terms, from 2013 to 2022, before leaving politics.
Mourning locals remembered him as a dedicated leader who relentlessly advocated for the residents of Kipchimchim.

Many have been left in shock, wondering what might have led the former MCA, known locally as ‘Surveyor,’ to allegedly take his own life.
The Kericho incident occurred just days after Lamu Deputy Governor Raphael Munyua Ndung’u passed away from illness.
Munyua was elected Deputy Governor of Lamu alongside Governor Issa Timamy on a joint Amani National Congress (ANC) ticket.
Governor Issa Timamy, in his tribute, described Munyua as not just a colleague but also a close friend, brother, and devoted public servant.
To Munyua’s wife, Stella Tayo Ndung’u, their children, family, friends, and all who knew him, we extend heartfelt condolences from myself, my family, the County Government of Lamu, and the people of Lamu.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this challenging time.”
