Police Officer Shot Dead While Watching Manchester United Game at a Club
On the night of April 4th, Thursday, unidentified attackers fatally shot a law enforcement officer at a club located in the Sagat region of Marakwet.
Based on a police report reviewed by Gossipa2z.com, the police officer had joined fellow individuals at a local club to watch a soccer game.
During the incident, a match in the English Premier League (EPL) featuring Manchester United and Chelsea was underway, drawing significant crowds due to the extensive fan bases of both clubs.
Amos Kipchirchir, stationed at the Liter Police post, sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his left chest around 11:15 pm, resulting in his death due to bleeding before medical assistance could be provided.
The authorities found five spent 7.62x39mm cartridges at the site of the incident, leading to the closure of the scene as investigations continue.
The deceased’s body was moved to Tot Sub-County Hospital for examination, while authorities initiated a search for the perpetrators.
The motive behind the assault remains unclear since the officer did not have any identifiable adversaries.

The inquiries aim to determine whether it was a matter of being in the wrong place at the wrong time or if the constable was deliberately targeted from the outset.
In a nearly identical occurrence, another police constable passed away on March 29th following a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head within his residence in Laikipia County.
Police officers recovered his corpse from the location, where he was found motionless in a puddle of blood alongside the firearm believed to have been used. Reportedly, he inflicted a gunshot wound to his chin, resulting in the bullet exiting through his left ear.
In recent times, there has been a noticeable increase in incidents where officers are killed. For instance, on March 30, a police officer in Makueni County’s Mbooni area turned himself into authorities after fatally shooting a fellow officer following their shift.
Charles Rono, the Mbooni OCPD, verified the event, mentioning that the motive behind the murder remained unknown. The perpetrator was apprehended and held for further inquiry.
