Police Clash with Protesters in Nairobi as Kasmuel McOure Takes Off at Lightning Speed to Avoid Arrest During Nane Nane Demonstrations(Video)

A confrontation unfolded on Muindu Mbingu Street in Nairobi as police clashed with protesters in a series of running battles.

At one point, officers resorted to deploying teargas canisters to disperse a group that had tried to gather for a protest.

Despite their efforts, police successfully prevented the group from assembling.

This group was among many that responded to a call for a demonstration named Nane Nane.

A video clip shared on the afternoon of Thursday showed a scared McOure with colleagues as the police teargassed the capital city to tame the youth from taking to the streets.

Reports indicated that the police officers were targeting the activist when he dashed into the media house, which houses the Daily Nation newspaper and NTV.

In the 11-second clip, McOure, dressed in his signature suit, is seen running towards Nation Center’s entrance and jumping over security barriers.

In contrast, areas such as Mombasa, Kisumu, and various towns in Western Kenya saw minimal street activity.

Many residents opted out of the protest, preferring to give the President time to implement his development agenda.

โ€œWe are occupied with Joho’s swearing-in ceremony. The younger generation can protest from their homes,โ€ commented Salim Swaleh, a Mombasa resident.

A visit by Gossipa2z.com to Kisumu showed that daily activities were proceeding as normal, with businesses like shops, supermarkets, and banks operating without disruption.

Pedestrian traffic was lighter than usual, but businesses that remained open continued their operations smoothly.

There was an absence of police roadblocks and a noticeable lack of police presence in the streets, in contrast to the usual patrols and roadblocks near Kisumu Boys Roundabout, Patel Flats, and Kondele during planned protests.

Residents told Gossipa2z.com that it was decided there would be no protest against the government in the Lakeside city.

They expressed support for the new, broad-based government and felt that demonstrations could hinder efforts to tackle the country’s challenges.

Mark Oluoch pointed out that the recent changes by President William Ruto reflect the input of young people, and further protests might undermine these developments.

“Let’s give the new Cabinet Secretaries a chance to work. Protesting now might dilute the progress weโ€™ve made,” Oluoch advised.
