Pastor Ezekiel Odero’s Church Confirms Tax Filing in KRA
A document from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has confirmed that the New Life Prayer Centre and Church of televangelist Ezekiel Odero has been filing tax returns, removing any doubt about its compliance with the law.
“This is to certify that New Life Prayer Centre and Church, tax ID number P051523861H, has filed all required tax returns and paid all taxes as required by law. This certificate is valid for one year until June 28, 2023,” the tax compliance certificate states.
On Thursday, Registrar of Societies Jane Joram told senators that Pastor Ezekiel’s church and cult leader Paul Mackenzie’s Good News International church has been served with a 30-day notice to show cause as to why they should not be closed for failing to comply with some regulations. The notifications were issued on April 27.
The registrar indicated that Mackenzie’s church is at risk of being shut down because its goals are likely to be used for illegal purposes and are therefore incompatible with the welfare of the Kenyan people.
The church of Pastor Ezekiel is in danger of closing because it has not filed tax returns for the past ten years.
As investigations into the Shakahola massacre intensify, he is already fighting for a court to unfreeze his more than thirty-five bank and M-Pesa accounts, as well as the return of his World Evangelism television station.
Wednesday, the Mombasa High Court granted Pastor Ezekiel and his congregation access to the Mavueni Kilifi County church property, as well as uninterrupted services.
The orders were issued by the presiding judge in Mombasa. Olga Sewe after the televangelist complained about the difficulty he was having entering the church and conducting services due to the heavy police presence there.

The Communication Authority of Kenya (CA) suspended the operations of the Mavueni-based television station and church.
This occurred following Pastor Ezekiel’s arrest and arraignment in connection with the Shakahola massacre that claimed at least 130 lives.
With a team of eight attorneys. Including Jared Magolo, Cliff Ombeta, Danstan Omari, Shadrack Wambui, Brian Okoko, and Duncan Osoro. He appealed the decision to the High Court.
Pastor Ezekiel has characterized the allegations against him as unfounded, scandalous, and false. And he has denied involvement in the Shakahola mass murder and association with Mackenzie.
According to his argument, the freezing of his bank accounts violated his and his congregation’s constitutional rights. To freedom of religion and property.
Pastor Ezekiel asserts that the freezing of the church’s bank accounts is part of the state’s unconstitutional strategy. To stifle his ministry, even though he is innocent of the Shakahola massacre allegations.
He has filed a lawsuit against Attorney-General Justin Muturi. The Inspector-General of Police Japheth Koome, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. The Central Authority and its chief officer Ezra Chiloba, and the Ministry of the Interior.
Among the interested parties are the Assets Recovery Agency. The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, and the National Council of Churches of Kenya.
Mackenzie and Pastor Ezekiel are both under investigation. For aiding suicide, murder, abduction, radicalization, genocide, crimes against humanity, child cruelty, fraud, and money laundering. As well as for being pre- or post-facto accomplices.
