Oscar Sudi’s 10M Loss: Warning to Mandago
Oscar Sudi, a representative from Kapsaret, weighed in on the ongoing debate surrounding the Findland Scholarship scandal and urged Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago to compensate families who lost money as a result of the failed program.
Speaking in his constituency during the inauguration of CDF classrooms on Friday, Sudi cautioned that he would not defend his Kenya Kwanza colleague and revealed that he had lost close to Ksh 10 million through donations to students seeking to continue their education in Finland.
Given that the majority of parents were still struggling to make ends meet, he expressed sympathy for their suffering.
“Mandago pia auze shamba yake. Wawache kutudanganya na walipee pesa ya wenyewe. Let Mandago also sell his land. They should stop telling us stories and pay back the money. These (accused persons) are not poor people,” he stated.
“I also contributed 10 million Kenyan shillings to the Finland contributions.” Even if the matter is before the court, that money must be returned.”
Despite the ongoing court case in which Mandago and three others were charged with conspiracy to commit a felony, according to Sudi, the families could only obtain justice if the funds were returned.
According to Sudi, the funds were intentionally misappropriated several months before the campaign period.
“People have sold their land, while others have taken out loans, and then some misappropriate the funds and ask us to defend them. That cannot be done.

“The only method for filling a hole is to excavate soil and place it in the hole.” “If you owe money, you must repay it,” the lawmaker stated.
The former governor, Mandago, has maintained his innocence in the matter. In addition, he has signaled his willingness to collaborate with the affected families to secure their refund.
“I would like to reiterate that, as a law-abiding citizen, I am willing to report to any station upon request. The senator stated on August 16 that he had conferred with the leaders of the parents demanding refunds and agreed with their press release from the previous evening regarding the next steps.
Mandago was arrested on August 16 and accused the next day at the Nakuru Law Courts for the alleged theft of over Ksh1 billion from the scholarship fund.
He was subsequently released on Ksh500,000 cash bond and has yet to enter a plea, which is scheduled to occur once a fourth suspect, reportedly in Canada, returns from abroad.
President William Ruto and opposition leader Minister Raila Odinga condemned the Mandago scandal, with the former stating that all accused persons found to be responsible for embezzling nearly Ksh1 billion from the funds would bear their cross.
