Omtatah Reveals Kibet Bull’s Final Moments Before Alleged Abduction
Presidential candidate Okiya Omtatah has shared details about the final moments of Kibet Bull, an X (formerly Twitter) cartoonist who was reportedly abducted on December 24 after visiting Omtatah’s office.
In a press conference on December 26, Omtatah confirmed that Kibet came to his office between 11 am and 4 pm on Tuesday, December 24, to introduce himself.
“He told me he was a big supporter of my work and had traveled from Nakuru to Nairobi just to meet me before leaving for Israel to study,” Omtatah said. Kibet also mentioned he would stay at his brother’s house before his trip but expressed no concerns about his safety.
Omtatah revealed that his security team had noticed a white Subaru trailing Kibet, parked across the street from the office. Concerned, Omtatah arranged for Kibet to be driven to the Kencom bus stage, where he was supposed to board a matatu to Kikuyu.
“When I learned of his abduction, I reported it to Upperhill Police Station,” Omtatah explained. “I took responsibility for this report because he left my office and never reached his destination.”

Omtatah suspects that Kibet was followed and abducted by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI). His security team had observed the white Subaru, which appeared to be equipped with devices used for intercepting phone conversations.
He added that the vehicle, occupied by two men and a woman, had stayed parked outside his office the entire time Kibet was there and only left shortly after Kibet did.
Kibet had reportedly been avoiding visits to Nairobi due to safety concerns, but he decided to travel after his brother went missing on Saturday. Known for his satirical cartoons of politicians and prominent figures, Kibet has a following on X.
During the press conference, Omtatah also called for the release of Kenyans who were allegedly abducted for sharing their opinions on social media, including Bill Mwangi, Peter Muteti Njeru, and Bernard Kavuli, who were reportedly taken for posting AI-generated images of the President.
