Omanyala Hints At Attempting A Double At The Paris Olympics
Africa’s fastest man Ferdinand Omanyala has hinted at going for a double in next year’s Olympic Games in Paris, France.
Omanyala said he is being challenged by his new coach Geoffrey Kimani to go for the 100m and 200 meters and is feeling positive about it.
This is after the 100m specialist ended the largely successful 2023 season without a World Championship medal, his major target at the beginning of the campaign.
“My coach is urging me to do 200m, and said he is working on a plan on how that can happen. I will do a couple of races and see which decision we will come up with,” said Omanyala.

The 100m Commonwealth Games champion has also revealed that he will not be taking part in the 2024 All-African Games, in a strategy to decongest his schedule ahead of the Olympics.
“The All African Games are not on our calendar because it is coming a week after the World Indoors in Glasgow. The main targets are the World Indoors, the Diamond League, and the Olympic Games,” explained Omanyala.
Late in October, the Diamond League 2023 season finalist changed his coach Dan Ayiemba, and reunited with his former trainer Kimani, who has now revealed the reasons behind the change.
“I changed my coaches because I’m not getting any younger, while there is a lot to achieve. I chose a coach I have worked with before when I did my first sub 10 and so far I feel we are heading for a great season,” the ever-smiling sprinter explained in an interview with National Olympic Committee – Kenya media.
