    Okiya Omtatah Ranked as Best Senator by Infotrak(LIST)

    Okiya Omtatah Ranked as Best Senator by Infotrak(LIST)

    According to a new survey by the research firm Infotrak, Okiya Omtatah, a senator from Busia and a longtime human rights activist, has the highest performance in the country at 59 percent.

    Kirinyaga Senator Kamau Murango deadlocked with Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot at 56 percent.

    Dan Maanzo of Makueni and John Methu of Nyandarua rounded out the top five with 52 and 51 percent, respectively.

    Cheruiyot and Moses Kajwang’ (47) of Homabay were the only senators in the top ten who had served for a third term. 

    The survey also ranked the finest female senators, with Agnes Kavindu of Machakos topping the list with 47 percent, followed by Fatuma Dullo of Isiolo with 46 percent.

    The investigation conducted by Infotrak between July and September of 2023 covered all 47 counties. 

    The survey was limited to elected leaders, excluding nominees.

    The Countytrak survey ranked the performance of elected officials such as Senators, Women Representatives, and County Assembly members.

    In the past two days, Infotrak has released two separate rankings of the top governors, counties, and the most improved governors and counties.

    Seventy percent of respondents ranked their counties as better than before the introduction of devolution, while twenty-one percent ranked them as worse. At the same time, 9 percent said they have stagnated.

    Comparing the current and former county administrations in terms of development, West Pokot County and Homabay topped the list with a score of 70%, followed by Trans Nzoia (65%), Elgeiyo Marakwet (64), Kirinyaga (63), and Embu (59).

    Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya and Homabay Governor Gladys Wanga led the list with 70%, followed by West Pokot Governor Simon Kachapin (67%), Simba Arati of Kisii (64%), and Irugu Kang’ata (64%).ย
