ODM Alleges Raila’s Bodyguard Abduction
According to the ODM party, the bodyguard of the leader of Azimio la Umoja, Raila Odinga, Maurice Ogeta, has allegedly been kidnapped by unidentified persons who are suspected of being police officials.
On Wednesday, the director of communications for the ODM, Philip Etale, issued a statement in which he claimed that Ogeta was attacked by the suspects on his way to work from his residence on Wednesday morning. According to Etale, the suspects flagged him down and then bundled him into the trunk of his car.
Etale claims that after a few minutes of driving, the car suddenly stopped, and the perpetrators had to coerce Ogeta out of the trunk so that they could restart the vehicle.
A portion of the statement stated as follows: “After driving for a few minutes, the vehicle stalled and they got him out of the boot to show them how to restart it before returning him to the boot and sped off to an unknown destination.”

Etale further asserted that Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino was detained on Tuesday night shortly after arriving in Nairobi from Mombasa, where he and other Members of Parliament from Nairobi County are believed to have attended a meeting with officials from the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KERRA).
In addition, Member of Parliament Owino posted on his Facebook page, saying that he had been detained.
Following my arrival from Mombasa, I was taken into custody by the DCI at JKIA. “At this time, I am being held for arrest,” he wrote.
Citizen Digital has attempted to contact the MP for a comment since then; but, calls to his phone have been unsuccessful.
The reported incidents take place in the wake of demonstrations against the administration that were planned to take place on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
