Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Thursday arrested a couple believed to be behind a series of heists in Mombasa and Mariakani areas.
The sleuths, drawn from DCI Kaloleni and Mariakani Police Station, revealed that the couple, a 33-year-old man and his 20-year-old lover, participated in a violent robbery on July 18 leading to deaths.
The duo was also linked to an abduction and robbery on July 24, 2024, as well as a shooting incident on July 17, 2024.

DCI detectives, who had been pursuing the couple for a while, tracked them down to a hideout in Samburu township.
After the arrest, police recovered several items from the home including 9 assorted mobile phones, 3 hard disks, and a 24-inch Aucma TV.

The suspects were taken into police custody for legal processing while the recovered items have been preserved as crucial exhibits.
The arrest comes a day after Kenya Police Service (KPS) officers intercepted six suspects after a failed robbery attempt in Ruaka.
The police revealed that the six were nabbed by officers from Ruaka Police Station while attempting to flee onboard a matatu.
The gang, which attempted to rob an apartment, escaped upon noticing that the owner of the house had gotten wind of their plans.
“Hawk-eyed officers responded to an alert from the would-be victim where they intercepted the thugs’ getaway Matatu,” read the statement in part.
All the suspects were aged between 22 years old and 27 years old.
Two toy pistols, six pocket phones, and house-breaking tools were recovered among other items.
