Nancy Onyango: IMF Director Running for CBK Governor.
On Wednesday, May 2, the Public Service Commission (PSC) shortlisted candidates for the position of Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) Governor.
The competition included Nancy Asiko Onyango, Director of the Office of Internal Audit and Inspection at the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Onyango oversees the IMF’s internal audit and inspection function, which provides independent and objective assessments of the effectiveness of the organization’s governance, risk management, and internal control processes, in the position she has held since 2019.
“Nancy is also an expert in Gender Leadership. IMF’s website states that her dissertation was titled “Perceived Barriers Faced by Women in Achieving CEO Positions in Kenyan Corporations.”

Before joining the IMF, Onyango spent more than two decades at the African Development Bank (AfDB) in a variety of capacities, including as Director of Internal Audit and Oversight and Chief Risk Officer.
She worked for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Kenyan Ministry of Finance as well.
In addition, she was the founder and chief executive officer (CEO) of Reliance Risk Advisory Solutions, a Board of Directors governance consulting firm.
Nancy spent over 25 years with PricewaterhouseCoopers in the United Kingdom, Europe, Asia, and East Africa, and two years with EY as the African leader for Governance, Risk, and Compliance.

Nancy possesses a Bachelor of Commerce with First Class Honors from the University of Nairobi. A Master of Business Administration (Management Information Systems) from the University of Nairobi. Kenya, and a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) from USIU- Africa.
She is also a Certified Public Accountant. A Certified Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC) practitioner. A Certified Information Systems Auditor Certified in Corporate Governance for Enterprise IT (CGEIT) from ISACA International. And a Certified in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA) from the Institute of Internal Auditors worldwide.
Onyango holds both the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation.
Academic colossus Nancy was born and raised in Kenya, and her ideals aim to ensure compliance in financial management.
The Public Service Commission also announced that former Treasury Principal Secretary Kamau Thugge. Dorcas Muthoni Mutonyi. Haron Sirima. Edward Sambili, Nancy Onyango, and Adan Abdulmalik Mohamed have been shortlisted for interviews.
“Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed on the date and time specified at the Public Service Commission, Commission House, Harambee Avenue, Nairobi. “Candidates must arrive at least 15 minutes before the start time,” reads a portion of the statement.
