Nairobi UDA MCAs Issue Stern Warning to Gachagua Over Tribal Rhetoric: “We Bear the Brunt of Recklessness”

MCAs aligned with the UDA party have opposed Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s persistent claims of advocating for Mount Kenya’s interests.

What did Antony Kiragu tell Rigathi Gachagua?

They warned that the DP’s ongoing campaign efforts are divisive and risky due to their tribal nature. Speaking to Gossipa2z.com, Nairobi County Minority Leader Antony Kiragu noted that Nairobi MCAs with regional roots would be most affected if ethnic politics dominate.

Kiragu called for an end to any further tribal and ethnic-based campaigns. He stated, “In Nairobi, we bear the brunt of their recklessness and suffer the consequences of their mess. We’ve remained silent as they conduct UDA campaigns with ethnic undertones,” Kiragu said.

Kiragu pointed out that Kenyans moved beyond ethnically-driven politics in 2022 and should not revert to that state. “We will call them out and reject whatever they are proposing for us,” he added.

Kiragu emphasized that Kenyans supported President William Ruto based on his manifesto, not because of his choice of running mate. He encouraged aspiring leaders in the Mount Kenya region to be bold in expressing their views. He criticized the “One man, one vote, one shilling” campaign promoted by certain leaders, suggesting that those involved have hidden agendas.

What message did the MCAs have for Sakaja?

The MCAs urged Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja not to feel intimidated by leaders who oppose him. They noted that although there have been tensions between Sakaja and the DP, the governor maintains no grudge against Gachagua.

UDA’s communication director slams Gachagua

Earlier, on Wednesday, May 22, UDA’s communication director, Antonellah Kakuko, joined other Kenya Kwanza leaders in criticizing Gachagua’s one-man, one-shilling campaign

Kakuko stated that Gachagua’s campaigns are unconstitutional and discriminatory toward marginalized communities.

Speaking to Gossipa2z.com, Kakuko argued that the country’s resources must be shared equitably across the nation, including the most remote areas.
