Wafula Chebukati’s official X account has become active again after being inactive for nearly a year.
The former chairman of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) recently passed away after battling cancer for a long time.
On Thursday, February 27, Kenyans noticed that there was a new post on his X account. The account had not posted anything for the past year.
The last time Chebukati shared something on X was in March 2024. At that time, he had posted about spending time with his family at their Sabata farm.
However, in the latest update, his family announced that the X account would now be used as their official channel for sharing funeral arrangements.
The post also paid tribute to the late Chebukati, stating that his legacy would continue to inspire the family he left behind.
“As we continue mourning the passing of our dear husband and father, Mr. Wanyonyi Wafula Chebukati EGH, on February 20, 2025, we honor his legacy, which will forever inspire us. This X account will now serve as the family’s official channel for funeral announcements,” read the message.
Since the comment section was disabled, many people quoted the post to send messages of comfort.

Chebukati’s Children Introduced Amid Speculations
Earlier, Gossipa2z.com reported that Wafula Chebukati’s family presented his three children to the public.
During a press conference, the family’s spokesperson, Eric Nyongesa, introduced Chebukati’s children. He mentioned the firstborn son, Jonathan, his daughter Racheal, and the youngest son, Emmanuel.
Nyongesa also addressed rumors surrounding Chebukati’s cause of death. He urged people not to speculate and assured them that more details would be shared later.
The family also requested privacy, asking the public to give them space as they mourn their loved one.
Burial Arrangements and Cause of Death
According to a previous report by Gossipa2z.com, Chebukati will be buried on March 8, 2025, at his farm in Kitale.
Nyongesa revealed that Chebukati had undergone two surgeries after being diagnosed with brain cancer.
On the night he passed away, he suffered a cardiac arrest. A postmortem was planned to determine the exact cause of death.
Many leaders, including President William Ruto and various cabinet secretaries, took to social media to honor the late Chebukati. They praised him for his dedication and service during his time in office.
Unfortunately, Chebukati had very little time to enjoy his retirement benefits, which were worth millions. He became ill just a few months after stepping down from office.
