My Abductors Gave Me Ksh2,000 For Motorbike After Release – Maina Njenga

Former Mungki leader Maina Njenga spoke after he was allegedly abducted from his residence by unknown individuals.

Monday, while speaking to the press, Maina disclosed that his captors, who had taken him to a location in Naivasha, released him late at night.

When the kidnappers released Maina on Sunday evening, he revealed that they gave him Ksh2,000 for a boda-boda to get home.

“We got into the car to head home, about two hours later they stopped and told me to find my way home. They gave me Ksh2,000 for a motorbike,” he stated.

According to Maina, the kidnappers instructed him to contact and confirm he arrived home safely since it was around 10 p.m.

Maina opined that the abduction was politically related emphasizing that Kenyans should be allowed to support whoever they desire.

On Saturday, he was blindfolded and forced into a vehicle, he explained, as part of the abduction’s complications.

The vehicle was driven at a high rate of speed for two hours before he was transferred to another vehicle while still blindfolded and restrained.

“We got to the house and they led me up the stairs up to the sixth floor and then go to a tiny room with a mattress and dimly lit, this is unimaginable torture,” he stated.

Maina condemned the behavior and stated that Kenya was no longer in the Nyayo era, in which Kenyans were bundled into vehicles and transported to unknown locations to be tortured.

He implied that he knew who had abducted him, speculating that they were police officers wearing masks and balaclavas.

“When you are arrested you should be taken to a police station where your family can come visit not be taken to unknown houses for torture and interrogation,” he remarked.

The former leader urged the appropriate authorities to investigate the matter and hold all of the perpetrators accountable.

He emphasized that he would continue to struggle for Kenyans’ rights despite the severe economic crisis. Maina has supported opposition leader Raila Odinga, who has advocated for decreased food prices.
