Mwaura Makes First Blunder As Govt Spokesperson
Wednesday, Thirdway Alliance Party Leader and attorney Ekuru Aukot criticized Government spokesperson Isaac Mwaura for allegedly making fraudulent statements regarding his petition against the government’s proposal to deploy police to Haiti.
In a statement, Aukot criticized the government spokesperson’s comments made during an interview, in which he claimed that he had called Aukot to find out why he had filed a lawsuit to prevent the deployment, which the High Court has since suspended.
”Stop the lies. You lied that you spoke to me about the Haiti petition. Why are you people such liars?” Aukot stated.
Isaac Mwaura stated during the interview that the government will adhere to all legal requirements before deploying police to the Caribbean nation.
”As you may be aware, there is a court order that has been issued because of my good brother Ekuru Aukot whom I spoke to before I came here because I wanted to understand why he went to court and there is something we need to explain to us all as Kenyans” Mwaura said during the interview.

Mwaura, following the lead of Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki, suggested that the government seek consent from both houses of Parliament before sending police to Haiti.
”Deployment is a process because there has to be a ratification to the request,” Mwaura said.
Mwaura also disclosed that the government will provide specialized training to empower the police with the skills necessary to accomplish the mission.
This comes after the High Court issued conservatory orders on October 9 prohibiting the government from sending police officers to Haiti or any other country until October 24.
