Murkomen to Uhuru: Leave Raila, We’ll Handle Him Personally
Kipchumba Murkomen, the Cabinet Secretary for Roads, Transport, and Public Works, has urged former President Uhuru Kenyatta to refrain from endorsing opposition leader Raila Odinga’s efforts in coordinating anti-government demonstrations.
During a church service at AIPCA Bahati Cathedral in Nairobi on Sunday, the Cabinet Secretary urged President Uhuru to release Raila, cautioning that the government will hold the opposition leader responsible for the violent protests occurring in various regions.
“If Raila was left to alone, he would have chosen a different path. I want to urge the former president Uhuru Kenyatta, just like Pharaoh let the Israelites go, I think I want to tell Uhuru Kenyatta because I know him, let Raila go, leave him alone,” Murkomen said.
“The strength you give him, the incitement you compound on him, the wrongful use of your resources to cause havoc and intimidation to the people of Kenya, let Raila go and let him make a personal decision and we will deal with him as an individual let alone the strength that you give to him,” he added.

Murkomen implores the opposition leader to reconsider the upcoming Wednesday protests.
“From this Church, I want to tell Raila Odinga that it is not too late to change and embrace peace. You can still change your mind and believe in a united country. It is very unusual for an 80-year-old to roam the streets of Nairobi in the name of Maandamo,” he spoke.
He urged Uhuru to allow the present government to fulfill its promises outlined in the manifesto, rather than obstructing its progress. Murkomen emphasized that vandalizing property would not improve the nation’s economic situation.
The Azimio coalition has scheduled protests for three consecutive days starting from Wednesday.
President William Ruto and Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki issue a strong warning to Azimio, stating that the government will not tolerate violent protests in the country.
