Murder Of Utawala Taxi Driver Evans Mochara: Two More Suspects Including Suspended Police Officer Arrested
Two more suspects, including an ex-police officer, have been detained in connection with the abduction and murder of taxi driver Evans Mochara earlier this month.
Stanley Collins Muthike Thyka and Kennedy Murimi Kinyua are believed to have acted as accomplices to the primary suspect, the deceased’s wife.
According to sources with knowledge of the operation, Muthike and Murimi were apprehended on Friday by detectives from the Nairobi region armed with “actionable intelligence information on the perpetrators.”
Muthike was the first to be apprehended; upon interrogation, he led the detectives to the Olekasasi ward in the Ongata Rongai municipality, where his alleged accomplice, Murimi, was apprehended.
Murimi is a police constable driver stationed at the Akila Police Station in Lang’ata, according to the police, but he is presently under interdiction for desertion.
Two individuals are being held at the Capitol Hill and Kilimani Police Stations.
Evans Mochara’s body was discovered in Maragua Dam in Murang’a County on October 14, two days after he was reported missing from the Mihang’o neighborhood of Utawala in Nairobi.
A week after filing a suspicious missing person report, Teresia, the primary suspect in her husband’s disappearance and subsequent murder, was arrested.
She was brought before the Makadara Law Courts on Monday, where the police initially sought a miscellaneous application to extend her detention by seven days.
However, the situation took a dramatic turn last Saturday when an indeterminate body discovered in Maragua Dam, Murang’a, was positively identified as that of Evans Moracha, aged 47.

Initial findings indicate that Masese communicated frequently with the missing person. The last time she spoke with her spouse was at 21:06 on Wednesday of last week, just four hours before he was picked up from his residence at 1:00 a.m. on Thursday.
Two days after Evans went missing, on Saturday, the suspect lodged a missing person report at the Kayole Police Station. It was on the same day that Evans Moracha’s decomposing body was discovered.
A week after her suspected report was made public, the suspect would be apprehended. During the interrogation, she denied speaking with or seeing her spouse on that day, and she had previously refused to cooperate with police when summoned.
Before the body was discovered, Evans’ car undertook a mysterious voyage. It departed the Chokaa region at 1:44 a.m. on Thursday and joined Kangundo Road, passing through Sagana at 3:49 a.m. and Kirinyaga 54 minutes later.
The vehicle was spotted in Kasarani, Nairobi, at 6:50 a.m., and later at the Astrol Petrol Station in Runda, before continuing to Gitaru and then Ongata Rongai at 10:02 a.m. It was later observed at South C at 11:09 AM and Airport South Road in Pipeline at 3:01 PM before it was abandoned in the Njiiru neighborhood of Nairobi, just a few kilometers from his residence.
