Murang’a University Student Commits Suicide in the Third Year
A tragic incident occurred at the Murang’a University of Technology, as a third-year student named Samantha Nyawira reportedly died by suicide.
Nyawira, studying Tourism, found hanging in her rented house located in Murang’a town.
The news of her death was shared in a memo sent out by the University’s Dean of Students, Asige Chavumilu, who revealed that Nyawira was discovered dead in her house on Tuesday, April 18, at around 1:20 am.

According to a friend of the deceased, Nyawira had recently gone through a breakup with her boyfriend. It may have contributed to her decision to take her own life.
On Tuesday, the families of both Nyawira and her former partner called to the University and informed of the situation.
As the family members of the deceased and her ex-boyfriend mourn their loss, the police have taken Nyawira’s body to Murang’a Level 5 Hospital mortuary as preparations for her burial are underway.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the university community. Students and faculty expressing their condolences and offering support to those affected by the tragedy.
The university has also released a statement expressing their sadness at the loss of one of their students. Offering their sympathies to the family and friends of Samantha Nyawira.
