Mt. Kenya Drama! CS Justin Muturi Declines to Join President Ruto’s Tour – “i’m not his follower!”

Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi has announced that he will not accompany President William Ruto on his upcoming visit to the Mt. Kenya region.

Speaking on Saturday, March 22, Muturi explained that he does not routinely follow the President unless the event is directly related to his ministry.

Muturi: “I Have My Own Schedule”

Muturi clarified that he has never had the habit of following a President on tours.

“I don’t just follow the President. Even when Uhuru Kenyatta was in office, I never made it a habit to go with him everywhere. A President has his own schedule, and I have mine. Unless it concerns my ministry, I have no reason to be there,” he stated.

Ruto’s First Mt. Kenya Visit Since Gachagua’s Impeachment

President Ruto is set to visit Mt. Kenya for a development tour, marking his first trip since the impeachment of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Preparations for the tour are ongoing. Ruto recently held a meeting with Mt. Kenya MPs at State House. Meanwhile, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki hosted 54 Mt. Kenya Members of Parliament at his Karen residence to discuss the upcoming visit.

Muturi Defends His Stand, Rejects Resignation Calls

This comes just a week after Muturi dismissed calls for his resignation. Some critics have urged him to step down, accusing him of being at odds with the government.

However, Muturi insists that he is defending constitutionalism and the promises made by the Kenya Kwanza administration.

“It would be morally wrong for me to resign just because I am speaking about constitutionalism. Kenya Kwanza promised Kenyans that certain things would not happen under our leadership. Resigning would be an act of cowardice, and I would be letting young people down,” he said in an interview on March 12.

Muturi remains firm in his stance, emphasizing that he is working for the people of Kenya, not for political interests.
