MP Faces Death Threats as Impeachment Looms for Agriculture CS Linturi
Bumula MP Jack Wamboka asserts that he fears for his life after submitting a notice of motion to impeach Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi due to the ongoing fertilizer scandal in the country.
The vocal member ofย parliamentย mentioned that he has faced life-threatening situations and called on National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangulaย to quickly approve the motion.
โThe CS must be impeached to restore sanity in the ministry and fast-track farmers compensation. The impeachment will cushion farmers from unscrupulous fertilizer business deals,โ he said.
MP Wamboka, supported by signatures from 110 legislators, stated that the fertilizer scandal isn’t the first incident of its kind in the Ministry of Agriculture. He noted that these scandals have diminished farmers’ trust andย consequentlyย hindered the government’s efforts to ensure food security.

โThe motion is rooted in grave allegations of gross misconduct, violation of constitutional provisions, and serious breach of public trust. The evidence presented before the assembly paints a distressing picture of negligence, mismanagement, and potentialย ofย criminal activities within the ministry,โ he said.
In Parliament, he encouraged his colleagues to back the motion, emphasizing that it is neither politically driven nor based on a search for wrongdoing.
Among MPs who have since signed the motion include: Joyce Kamene (Machakos MP, Wiper), Raphael Wanjala (Budalangi, ODM), Pauline Lenguris (Samburu MP, UDA), Maryanne Kitany (Aldai, UDA), Adams Korir (Keiyo North, UDA), Otiende Amollo (Rarieda, ODM), Samuel Parashina (Kajiado South, ODM), Adagala Beatrice (Vihiga MP, ANC), Stephen Mogaka (West Mugirango, JP), and Clive Gisairo (Kitutu Masaba, ODM).
Others who appended their signaturesย are;ย Mohamed Adow (Wajir South, ODM), David Pkosing (Pokost South, KUP), Gathoni Wamuchomba (Githunguri, UDA), James Wamacukuru (Kabete, UDA) and Geoffrey Ruku (Mbeere North, DP).
