Moses Kuria Addresses Alleged Plan to Resign as CS

Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria addressed rumors circulating on Friday that suggested he was considering stepping down from his current government role.

In a statement, the outspoken CS dismissed the allegations as false information spread by an impersonating account on social media.

CS Kuria emphasized the importance of not being swayed by such rumors and urged the public to report accounts spreading misinformation.

He clarified, “I have become aware of a fake account falsely attributing incorrect information and opinions to me. Please note that this account does not belong to me.”

CS Kuria urged people to take action against the fake account by reporting, unfollowing, and blocking it, thanking them for their support and vigilance in combating misinformation.

The fabricated post alleged that the CS threatened to resign from his government position, citing President William Ruto’s alleged abandonment of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

According to the flagged post, President Ruto had purportedly distanced himself from the DP and begun collaborating with politicians aligned with opposition parties.

The fake post quoted, “Ruto’s dispute with Rigathi Gachagua stems from the government cozying up to the opposition.”

“I intend to step down as Cabinet Secretary to stand by my elder brother Rigathi Gachagua, who is promoting unity in our region,” the flagged post claimed CS Kuria as saying.

Additionally, the false post asserted that CS Kuria planned to contest the Gatundu South Member of Parliament seat in the 2027 General Election.

These allegations arise amidst a heightened political power struggle within the Mt Kenya region, allegedly leading politicians to pick sides.

The timing coincides with CS Kuria’s absence from the recent Mt Kenya leaders’ caucus meeting known as Limuru 3, attended by various politicians from the region.
