Mlolongo Hairdresser Murder: Woman Arrested in Suspected Love Triangle
Two weeks ago, the body of hairdresser Jeniffer Mwende was discovered in a pit latrine in Mlolongo. Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Nairobi arrested the primary suspect, identified as PN, in her murder.
According to a report released by the DCI on Saturday, the perpetrator was apprehended in Kitengela while riding a matatu to Namanga, Tanzania.
Investigators noted that the detention was the result of a well-coordinated operation that spanned several weeks. The suspect attracted attention because she was involved in a love triangle with Mwende and a married man.
According to the DCI detectives, PN repeatedly threatened Mwende to abandon the married man, implying she would take extreme measures to carry out her threats.
On the fateful day, Mwende was contacted by her neighbor, who was in league with PN, according to the police. The suspect intended for Mwende’s neighbor to lure her to an unknown residence under the guise of needing her services, according to the investigation.Â

The neighbor directed Mwende to the suspect’s residence, whereupon the barber went. Mwende was accosted and subdued by the two women upon her arrival; they threatened her with death if she was seen with the married man.
Minutes later, a third woman identified as EW, the man’s wife, joined the women.
“Apparently, the man’s wife had become protective of her man and was accusing PN of snatching him away. To save her skin, PN plotted the luring of Mwende whom she knew was her fellow paramour to the married man and called the wife pointing fingers at the defenseless woman,” read part of the statement.
“After roughing her up and threatening her with death should she be seen around the man, the trio feared that Mwende would report them to the police. They hence heinously strangled her with a bedsheet and suffocated her with pieces of cloth to avoid any screams.”
The detectives revealed that PN intended to have the corpse smuggled out of the compound and into a nearby forest by an unidentified taxi driver, but his plan failed because he lacked the key to the main gate. The suspect then dumped the body in a latrine trench.
Police officers have arrested the three women, who are scheduled to be arraigned on Monday, October 30 to enter a plea to homicide charges.
