Martha Karua Speaks on Possibility of Becoming Attorney General in Ruto’s Gov’t
Narc Kenya’s party leader, Martha Karua, has declined an offer to become the Attorney General in President William Ruto’s administration.
The position of Attorney General is still vacant after Rebecca Miano, who was initially proposed for the role, was reassigned to the Tourism Ministry.
An X user suggested that Karua, due to her outstanding legal background and experience, would be an ideal candidate for the AG role.
“I endorse Martha Karua for the Attorney General position. Her expertise is greatly needed by the Government. Martha Karua should assume the role immediately,” stated Peter Kariuki, who shared Karua’s qualifications.
However, Karua swiftly rejected the suggestion.
“Thanks, but I’m not interested,” she responded.
Karua has expressed opposition to the possibility of the opposition aligning with the government.
Azimio La Umoja leader Raila Odinga had agreed to hold structured talks with the president to address the grievances of Kenyan youth who protested against stringent tax policies and poor governance.

On July 25, Karua issued a notice to the Azimio La Umoja coalition announcing Narc Kenya’s exit from the coalition.
This followed the nomination of four ODM officials to the Cabinet.
“Please be informed that our continued presence in the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition is untenable due to current political developments. By this letter, NARC Kenya is formally notifying our departure from the Coalition as outlined in the exit clause(s) of the Coalition Agreement. This notice is effective immediately,” the letter addressed to Azimio Secretary General Junet Mohamed stated.
Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka also pledged not to join the government if offered the Attorney General position.
In response to the nomination of his allies into the government, Raila Odinga clarified that these nominations do not imply ODM or Azimio’s entry into the Kenya Kwanza administration.
“Neither the ODM Party nor the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party has entered into any coalition agreement with President Ruto’s UDA party,” he said.
