Martha Karua Announces 2027 Presidential Bid

Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua has declared her intention to run for President in the next General Election, scheduled for 2027.

Speaking at a funeral in Kiandieri, Kirinyaga County, on Friday, Karua firmly stated that she will no longer accept the role of a running mate. Instead, she plans to contest for the presidency herself.ย ย

“I want to tell my good friend, former Senator Daniel Karaba, that I am done with being a running mate. I will be going for the top seat in the next election,” she announced.

Karuaโ€™s decision to aim for the presidency reflects her ongoing criticism of the Kenya Kwanza government. She has been outspoken about the administration’s shortcomings and expressed her commitment to challenging its policies.

She specifically condemned the recent surge in abductions, which are allegedly carried out by individuals suspected to be police officers. Karua pointed out the irony of law enforcers, who are supposed to safeguard citizens, being linked to such acts.

The veteran politician urged the government, led by President William Ruto, to put an end to these troubling incidents. She emphasized that the kidnappings, disappearances, and extrajudicial killings disproportionately affect innocent young people in Kenya.

“This worrying trend of abducting and killing our youth must stop immediately,” Karua declared.

Her resolve to contest for the presidency and stand against injustice has been viewed as a clear signal of the growing dissatisfaction with the current leadership.
