Limuru III Conference: Kioni Denies DP Gachagua Sponsorship Claims
Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni has denied claims that Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua sponsored the Limuru III conference. He emphasized that the event was a product of collective effort and support from the people of the Mt Kenya region, marking a departure from past practices.
Kioni emphasized that the conference was driven by the concerns and initiatives of the people themselves, highlighting that it was their resources that facilitated the event, rather than external sponsorship.
Contrary to assertions from some regional leaders, Kioni clarified that the event was not heavily sponsored by any particular individual or entity. Rather, it was a self-supported gathering where attendees had the opportunity to voice their concerns and aspirations.
The Limuru III Conference, held on May 17, 2024, led to the formation of the Haki Coalition, a new political alliance comprising over 26 parties from the Mt Kenya region.

While Gachagua and former President Uhuru Kenyatta were welcome to attend the conference, there were calls from organizers for prior consultation with Gachagua and Martha Karua on matters concerning the region.
Gachagua expressed his willingness to engage with leaders on issues affecting the Mt Kenya region, irrespective of their political affiliations. However, he noted that neither Kioni nor Karua had reached out to him for consultation before the conference.
As a prominent figure in the region, Gachagua asserted his responsibility to convene such gatherings and urged those with agendas to engage with him directly, indicating his readiness to collaborate on addressing regional concerns.
