Liberated: Pauline Njoroge Regains Freedom
Pauline Njoroge, the Deputy Organizing Secretary of the Jubilee Party, has been unconditionally released.
Soyinka Lempaa, her attorney, told GossipA2Z that the narcotics allegation for which she was arrested did not appear on the charge sheet.
“There was no posted bond. She has been released on her recognizance because the prosecution’s application was so weak that it could not pass any test. Consequently, she was discharged.
“(The narcotics allegation) was unfounded, as this allegation was absent from the charging document that we were able to review. “There is no holding charge,” Soyinka stated.
On Saturday, Njoroge was arrested after police claimed to have discovered four rolls of dried plant material suspected of being narcotics.
Officers from the Watamu Police Station later claimed that they escorted her to her rented room at the Mawe Zuri Resort, where they discovered a clear container containing ten (10) tablets believed to be narcotics.
The following day, on Monday, July 24, she was brought before a court in Malindi in the afternoon.
A charging document obtained by GossipA2Z revealed that Njoroge was arrested for a series of tweets, including one in which she argued that a purported police operation in Nyanza constituted blatant brutality.

However, her detention unnerved some ruling party members, including Digital Strategist Dennis Itumbi, who disagreed with the charges brought against her.
In his argument, the former nominee for Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) stated that it was acceptable for all Kenyans to make mistakes in their social media postings.
Therefore, he demanded that the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) dismiss the charges and release her.
“Publishing on mainstream and Social Media platforms entails the right to commit errors and get things wrong. This is why media outlets apologize on their pages when they make a mistake. It is acceptable in the publishing industry to make an error.
“On social media, arresting anyone will not eliminate false news. The best method is to verify their veracity and state the correct position. Importantly, it has been upheld throughout civilization that insulting is a form of free expression. Itumbi stated, “With all due respect to the office of the DPP, I disagree on this point.”
“Release Pauline Njoroge and, if possible, drop these allegations. I elected to remain silent until I saw the indictment!” He added.
