Lee Kinyanjui Reveals Ksh.471 Million Net Worth During Cabinet Secretary Vetting
Lee Kinyanjui, the nominee for the position of Cabinet Secretary for Investment, Trade, and Industry, recently revealed that his total net worth is valued at Ksh.471 million.
The former Nakuru Governor shared this information during his appearance before the National Assembly’s Committee on Appointments for vetting on Tuesday.
Kinyanjui explained that his assets consist mainly of shares in family-run businesses as well as various properties he owns.
According to Kinyanjui, the shares he holds in family businesses are estimated to be worth about Ksh.399 million, while the value of the apartments he owns is around Ksh.80 million.
He was clear, however, in pointing out that he has an outstanding loan of Ksh.8 million, which affects his overall net worth. Despite this loan, he clarified that his total net worth stands at Ksh.471,000,972, after accounting for the debt.
Kinyanjui is one of three individuals closely associated with former President Uhuru Kenyatta who were nominated for ministerial roles by President William Ruto in December 2024.

Alongside Kinyanjui, the President also nominated William Kabogo for the position of ICT Cabinet Secretary and Mutahi Kagwe for the Agriculture Ministry.
Should Parliament approve Kinyanjuiโs appointment, he will officially take over the position from Salim Mvurya, who was recently moved to the Sports Ministry following Kipchumba Murkomenโs appointment as the new Interior Cabinet Secretary.
The approval process is crucial, as it will determine whether Kinyanjui will step into this important role within the Cabinet and carry out the responsibilities related to investment, trade, and industry for the government.
Kinyanjui’s financial disclosure comes amid growing scrutiny of public officials’ wealth, with many lawmakers and members of the public keen on understanding the financial backgrounds of those appointed to key positions.
His openness about his assets, including his family business shares and real estate, and his acknowledgment of the outstanding loan, adds transparency to the vetting process.
