Last chance! Sonko says as he takes Conjestina back to rehab
Once more, ex-Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has extended support to former boxing champion Conjestina Achieng’, emphasizing that this act of assistance marks the third and ultimate opportunity.
Via his authorized X platform, the politician stated unequivocally that he remains steadfast in his commitment to assist the boxer, notwithstanding what he characterized as efforts by some individuals to undermine his initiatives.
“Even though our chances in Conjestina’s healing journey were watered down, I’m a person who doesn’t give up in life,” Sonko noted.
“It is for this reason that we have given Conjestina the third and last chance again on her case.”
As per the former governor, Conjestina has been enrolled at the Mombasa Women Rehabilitation Centre, where she will commence new treatment supervised by a team of experts, including counselors, consultants, and physiatrists.
“My special thanks go to the Mombasa Women’s Hospital management led by the chief administrator, Hon. Amina Abdalla for accepting us back to the facility,” the former Governor remarked.
Sonko’s comments are in response to his recent statements where he denied any connection to accusations implying that he left the boxing legend unsupported.

The ex-governor had to address the situation when a video, showcasing phone discussions with the boxer’s family, gained widespread attention. The video illustrated the departure of Conjestina from Sonko’s team following a disagreement between them.
“I have seen a post by my good friend Carol Radul on Conjee, which attracted both positive and negative reactions from the public. Others were criticizing and accusing me of playing PR and vipindiree. I hereby wish to respond with facts as hereunder: Kenyans, I did my best to help Conjee, but her family watered down my efforts,” Sonko clarified.
“I needed to go to court and a warrant of arrest could have been issued against me if I failed. Conjestina was upset that I did not get her a plane ticket and put her on the bus. My team also traveled with SGR.”
Sonko stated that he objected to the family’s choice of bringing Conjestina back under their care. He argued that the family lacked the necessary resources to properly look after her and support her ongoing rehabilitation.
“Fortunately, my heart is bigger than myself. At times, I fail to control it for the love I have for the people, especially the less fortunate,” Sonko noted.
