KUCCPS Raises Alarm Over Course Application of 2023 KCSE Grade D & E Students
The KUCCPS has raised issues regarding applications from students who obtained Grades D and E in the 2023 KCSE.
In a Saturday-dated statement, the placement committee conveyed that the number of applications was insufficient in comparison to the students who took the exams.
Significantly, the largest proportion of 2023 KCSE examinees achieved Grades D and E. The outcomes reveal that 494,317 out of 895,533 candidates obtained a Grade D or lower.
Hence, the applicants were recommended to make use of the prolonged deadline for submitting their applications to enroll in different higher education institutions.
KUCCPS extended the deadline for applications to February 26.
Alternatively, the 494,317 students were recommended to prioritize courses in TVETS, an area with fewer applications and less competition.
“The number of applicants selecting degree programs is higher than those applying for TVET courses so far. KUCCPS encourages those with mean grades between C and E to take advantage of the available TVET opportunities.
“Particularly, applicants with D+ and E are still very low and we are encouraging them to apply. They should walk into their nearest TVET institution for assistance,” read the statement in part.

Moreover, individuals facing difficulties, including students, have the option to seek assistance at different Huduma Centres located throughout the country.
The application portal by KUCCPS was launched on February 8, allowing students to select their preferred courses and universities. The available options include a variety of academic programs, including degrees, diplomas, and certificates.
Applications are processed on the KUCCPS student portal: www.student.kuccps.net.
“On the menu bar, click “Application/Revision”. You will see either one or two forms for submitting the program codes at different levels. Type the programme codes that you noted down earlier, in the relevant form. (To minimize errors, you will not be able to copy and paste the program codes.)
“As you type the codes, you will notice that the system will be “Fetching Data” and “Checking Requirements”. Allow these processes to complete before you submit. Once the system has completed fetching data and checking requirements, it will display the name of each program under the respective codes, and indicate if the student meets the minimum requirements.” KUCCPS advised.
