KRA Extends Operating Hours to Midnight Ahead of Tax Return Deadline
The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has adjusted its operating hours as the deadline for tax return submissions draws near. As reported in local newspapers on Tuesday, May 28, the authority has announced extended hours, including late-night operations on certain days.
This extension applies to all KRA service centers, Huduma Centers, and the contact center. Weekdays will see these facilities open from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm to accommodate taxpayers.
Saturdays will also have extended hours from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, with an exception on June 29 when services will run from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. Sundays will remain closed except for June 30, when operations will run from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.
Select Huduma Centers will mirror KRA’s hours, operating from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, while others will open from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. These centers will be closed on Saturdays.

The KRA contact center will be available from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm on weekdays, extending to 10:00 pm from June 24 to June 28. Saturday hours will be from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, and Sunday hours will be from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, except on Juneย 30ย when servicesย willย run until midnight.
KRA urges taxpayers to meet the June 30,ย 2024ย deadline for filing tax returns, emphasizing the importance of timely submission through itax.kra.go.ke.
Service centers include Huduma Centers across Nairobi, the Southern Region’s Mombasa Huduma Center, and centers in various regions such as South Rift, North Rift, Northern, Central, and Western Kenya.
KRA aims for 8.2 million taxpayers to file returns before the June 30 deadline, highlighting penalties of Ksh10,000 for late submissions.
