KNEC Denies Early Release: KCSE Results Not Coming Before Christmas, Confirms Council
The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) rejected claims suggesting that the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results would be made available before Christmas.
In a statement, KNEC raised concerns about the online article suggesting that the KCSE results would be announced sometime between December 16 and December 22.
As per the Examination Council, the assessment of KCSE exams is ongoing, and the results will be made available once the marking process is completed.
“KNEC has made no such statement. Marking of KCSE is ongoing and the results will be released when they are ready,” the Exam Council clarified.
The highlighted article had also implied that the grading of the exams would be completed by December 11, but KNEC stated that this wasn’t accurate.
As per the false announcement, Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu would oversee the publication of results, supported by personnel from the Ministry of Education, Kenya National Examinations Council, Teachers Service Commission, and Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development.

The KCSE examinations commenced on October 10 and concluded on Friday, November 24, concluding with physics practicals, and a sum of 903,260 candidates taking part in the assessments.
KNEC’s explanation arises amidst the issues surrounding the Ministry of Education and the Examinations Council regarding the mistakes identified after the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination.
During his appearance in front of the Education Parliamentary Committee, Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu conceded that the KCPE exams unveiled on November 23 had been affected by mistakes.
The errors in the KCPE exams were linked by the CS to the company responsible for handling the QR code used to transmit results. Machogu stated that the errors were uncontrollable but mentioned that they had been resolved.
Machogu refuted allegations suggesting that KNEC had granted a contract to a domestic firm for producing the 2023 national exams.
