Kisumu Boys’ Students Nabbed in Bhang Incident: Four Arrested
On Monday evening, four candidates for Kisumu Boys Secondary School were apprehended on suspicion of marijuana use.
The four candidates were accused by the police of forcibly entering a room with a master key before gathering in a corner to smoke.
Before being released, three of the candidates, all aged 18, and one, all aged 17, were detained temporarily at the Kisumu Central Police Station, where they provided a statement.
Peter Mulai, the police commander of Kisumu Central sub-county, confirmed the incident and stated that the students were released on cash bail following the intervention of their parents and instructors.
Mulai further stated that the parents and educators reached a consensus to permit the students to complete the remaining examinations before the inquiries into the matter commenced.
Four suspects are scheduled to appear in court for arraignment on November 24, following the conclusion of exams. The two individuals will be charged with possession of illegal substances and breaking into a locked room, according to the police.

In addition to the four candidates, a total of 46 pupils remain unchanged following the conclusion of the examination period.
Ezekiel Machogu, cabinet secretary for education, has pledged to sanction several students and instructors who are suspected of engaging in exam malpractice.
In contrast to the cash bail granted to the culpable educators, nine examination center administrators were placed on suspension.
Principal Charles Onyari of Nyambaria High School was one of the center administrators terminated by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) in connection with irregularities in examinations. Averaging 10.89 points, the institution dominated the KCSE examination in 2022.
Early next year, Machogu is anticipated to disclose KCSE results.
