    Kisii Police Seize 588kgs of Suspected Bhang, Nab 5 in Major Drug Bust

    Police in Kisii County on Saturday seized two motor vehicles loaded with 14 sacks and six bails of suspected bhang.

    The illegal substance weighed a total of 588 kgs-189 kgs in one vehicle and 399 in the other.

    Police said the same is valued at Sh17,640,000 in the streets.

    Five suspects have been arrested and efforts have been made to arrest two other suspects who are said to have escaped the police during the operation.

    The exhibits including the suspected substance, the vehicles, and the number plates are detained at Nyamarambe Polie Station.

    The case is pending under investigation by DCI Gucha South.

    The National Police Service has thanked the public for their continued support in the fight against crime.

    On Friday, Head of Public Service Felix Koskei noted that drug abuse has become a menace and threat to humanity and especially to Kenyans.

    Declaring war against the illicit trade and substance abuse, he said the government was going to ensure that the vice is ended.

    He spoke during a stakeholders’ meeting at Machakos University.

    Koskei called on concerted efforts among all stakeholders including state officials, politicians, and Kenyans to join hands in the war towards eradicating such vices in the society.

    “Assistant chiefs, chiefs, assistant county commissioners, deputy county commissioners, everybody including MCAs, governors, MPs, let us rise against this so that we can save this generation,” he said.

    “I urge all of you, let us not relent, surrender or retreat. Let us keep on fighting to ensure that those people who are peddling drugs, selling illicit brew, and second-rated alcohol laced with poison are arrested, arraigned, and charged in court.”
