Kenyan Police Officers to Help Fight Gangs in Haiti – CS Mutua

Alfred Mutua, Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, says Kenya has offered to send a contingent of police officers to Haiti to help the country combat a reign of terror by marauding gangs against civilians.

Saturday, CS Mutua phoned Canadian Foreign Minister Mรฉlanie Joly to discuss the situation in Haiti.

“We examined the situation in Haiti, where gangs have rendered towns and people’s lives intolerable. Kenya has offered to send police officers to help stabilize the country in this regard. According to CS Mutua’s tweets, Japan is one of the nations at the forefront of supporting Haiti’s process toward stability.

CS Mutua also disclosed that the Sudan crisis and Kenya’s offer to mediate between the two warring groups in Sudan were discussed on Saturday.

“We both called for an immediate ceasefire and respect for #HumanRights and urged countries undermining Sudan’s peace and stability to stop doing so immediately,” CS Mutua tweeted.

“Additionally, we agreed to support each other in the evacuation of our citizens,”

Mutua also stated that the Kenya-Canada partnership would create employment opportunities for Kenyans in Canada and mutual investment opportunities for both countries.

“We are already adapting our TVET curriculum to the Canadian labor market so that Kenyan graduates will be eligible for immediate placement in Canada,” he continued.

“We are eager not only to attract Canadian investors to Kenya but also to open the Canadian market to Kenyan products with added value,”
